| We
are Gabriela and Reinaldo Alvarez, a couple of Colombian entrepreneurs,
who after making our home in Northern California for over
25 years, noticed a need for authentic Colombian foods. Arepas
are the most universal of Colombian foods, so they have become
the 'flagship' of our the company. |

| After slowly cooking the corn, it
is turned into "maza"(a soft dough from which arepas are prepared).
Hand made by our laborious staff, the arepas are then put
throught a cool down process in racks. After this process,
they are carefully packaged, to prepare for sale or shipment. |

Maizal Productos was conceived at the 1994 USA World Cup match between
Colombia and. Switzerland. Like good Antioqueños, our family saw
an opportunity to offer our homemade arepas to thousands of Colombians
from all over the country. While the day was a success, we realized
that Colombians living throughout the United States had no source
of authentic Colombian products. By January of 1995, El Maizal Products
had been established. |
